As part of the globally active environmental service provider Veolia, MultiPet GmbH is specialised in the recycling of PET packaging waste. To complement Veolia PET Germany GmbH, the company not only processes waste from the deposit system, but also PET mixtures from household collections. This is unique in Germany.
With a total capacity of more than 70,000 tonnes per year and over 150 employees, MultiPet GmbH and its associate company Multiport GmbH in Bernburg form one of the largest plastics recycling sites in Europe.
Recycling of PET Packaging
In a special recycling process, MultiPet GmbH produces PET flakes as a substitute for plastics from crude oil, which are used in the plastics industry. The pre-sorted plastics are first of all inspected for impurities, ground and washed intensively. In a special density separation process, impurities are removed from the PET. After drying, new flakes emerge in different colours and qualities, which serve as raw material for new products.
This way, the company makes an important contribution to the protection of natural resources and the reduction of CO2 emissions.
MultiPet GmbH was founded in 2001 and started production with a new PET recycling plant. Since December 2017 MultiPet has been part of the Veolia group and contributes to the extension of Veolia’s plastic recycling activities.
